PC App Store Settings Walkthrough

Customizing your experience in the PC App Store is simple and allows you to control how the application interacts with your Windows system. This walkthrough will guide you through the key sections of the Settings menu to help you optimize your workspace.

Step 1: Access the Settings Menu

There are two primary ways to reach your settings depending on how you are currently interacting with your computer:

• Option A (From the Start Menu Widget): 
  
  1. Click on the Start Menu icon in your taskbar. 
  
  2. In the widget panel that appears on the right side (showing recommended apps), click the Gear Icon (Settings) located in the top-right corner of that panel.

• Option B (From the System Tray):
  
  1. Click the Upper arrow icon ("Show hidden icons") 
  in your Windows taskbar near the clock. 
  
  2. Right-click the PC App Store icon, in the small pop-up window and select Settings from the menu.

General Preferences

In the General section, you can control the app's behavior during startup and updates:

• Run PCAppStore at Windows startup: Toggle this on if you want the store ready as soon as you turn on your PC.

• Enable Start Menu: This allows the store to integrate with your Windows Start menu as a widget on the right side, for quick access to recommended apps.

• Auto update to the latest version: Keep this enabled to ensure you always have the newest features and security patches automatically.

Prediction & Smart Monitoring

The Prediction section uses smart tools to assist with your daily tasks:

• Analyze my actions: If enabled, the store can offer relevant solutions, such as advising on PDF editing software if it detects you are working with documents.

• Monitor my hardware: This helpful feature can alert you to hardware needs, such as notifying you when you are low on printer ink.

• Monitor my software: This checks for missing essential tools, like an active antivirus.

• Show download alerts from PCA: Toggle this to receive notifications for products flagged by the store or already available in your library.

Notification Controls

You can choose exactly how and where you want to receive updates:

• App Download Notifications: Get notified when your downloads start, finish, or encounter an error.

• Notification Styles: Choose between receiving alerts in both the app and webpage, on the webpage only, or select "Don't show me recommendations" for a completely silent experience.

Search Integration

The Search section allows you to bridge your Windows search with the app:

• You can choose to show results from the PC App Store directly within your Windows Search bar or Start Menu, making it faster to find new software without opening the app first.

Under the About tab:

• Version: you can find your current version (for example fa.2024)

• Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy and Uninstall Instructions if needed.
